An annual performance review which includes a self-assessment and consultation will be completed by all Maple Leaf Day Care and Education Centre employees to identify areas of strength and those needing further improvement. Employees together with the Director will develop individualized training and professional development plans to support their movement towards a higher level of education and/or certification.

Maple Leaf Day Care and Education Centre will engage in an ongoing monitoring and evaluation process which involves the Licence Holder, management team, families, program staff, and other stakeholders to support continuous quality improvement. This will initially take the form of quarterly surveys to gather feedback on service delivery and inform improvement action plans.

Maple Leaf Day Care and Education Centre will start the accreditation process once licensed as a child care program. We will demonstrate that we meet the accreditation standards of excellence by undergoing the comprehensive self-evaluation of our services and policies including areas for improvement and implementing strategies to achieve the standards of excellence.

Incident Reporting

In accordance with the Government of Alberta; Child Care Licensing Regulation, Incident Reporting requirements; Maple Leaf Day Care and Education Centre will report serious illness of or injury to a child that occurs while the child is attending the program and any other incident that occurs while a child is attending the program that may seriously affect the health or safety of the child.

Incidents to be reported include, but are not limited to:
  • Death of a child
  • Injury
  • Allegation of abuse
  • Missing or lost child
  • A young person involved in a crime
  • Child removed from the program without permission
  • Emergency evacuation or unexpected program closure

Maple Leaf Day Care and Education Centre will immediately report the incident to licensing by telephone, fax or email using the required Incident Report form. The Incident Report form will be completed and submitted to the Calgary and Area Child and Family Services Authority’s licensing office within 2 days of the incident.

Incident Analysis

All incidents will be analyzed by the Director and/or the License Holder with action plans set in place to better anticipate and prevent incidents from recurring. Incident analysis will be reported annually as per Government of Alberta; Child Care Licensing Regulation requirements.
